RECONNECT WITH YOURSELF
WELCOME TO LILAC PSYCHOLOGY
Jessica (she/her) is the Director at Lilac Psychology. She is a Registered Clinical Psychologist, EMDR Accredited Practitioner (EMDRAA), and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Jessica supports her clients to utilise their personal strengths and inner resources to overcome challenges, regulate emotions, feel empowered, re-connect, and develop self-awareness and understanding.
In her approach, Jessica values flexibility, creativity, authenticity, and evidence-based knowledge. She believes in growth and resiliency and in finding meaning in adversity and imperfections.

As a bilingual and bicultural person with a French background, Jessica is also passionate about supporting Melbourne's French and francophone communities.
"I believe that therapy is not always about change. It is about being heard, seen, held, and guided to discover, (re)connect with, and nurture what is already there, including your own qualities, inner wisdom, and natural healing abilities. At Lilac Psychology we believe that in the right environment, clients can find the courage to reconnect with their authentic self in order to make sense of their own internal world and to create space for it to grow."
- Jessica.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
Jessica’s approach is integrative, trauma-and-attachment-informed, and client-centred.

Therapy looks different for each and every person, and Jessica emphasises collaboration with her clients to set treatment goals, build insight and self-awareness, and tailor her approach to their unique needs and personalities. Jessica particularly enjoys working with clients who are eager to delve deep and explore therapeutic methods that go beyond traditional talk therapy. By considering the intricate interplay of the brain, mind, body, and spirit, she facilitates profound insights and fosters healing and meaningful transformation.
Jessica’s clinical practice is also grounded in evidence-based, trauma-and-attachment-informed therapies including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Relational-Informed EMDR (RI-EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic therapy, and Mindfulness-based practices.

As people and the world continuously evolve, so does psychology and psychotherapy. Being a therapist is an ongoing process and Jessica firmly believes that it is her professional and personal responsibility to continue to grow and to learn new ways of understanding and helping people. In view of this, Jessica is constantly engaging in professional development activities to evolve and further her practice by training in different modalities, deepening her knowledge and understanding of the mind and body, and developing new skills. Jessica also attends regular professional supervision as well as her own personal therapy.
THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP

Research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of treatment outcomes. Jessica has conducted her own research on the therapeutic relationship. She therefore places above all a strong emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, authenticity, and collaboration. Finding the "right fit" is a key aspect of therapy and it is therefore important to know that there should be no pressure to commit to any particular therapist and that Jessica welcomes open communication around this.

EMDR INTENSIVES

Intensive EMDR is a focused approach designed to work through specific themes, traumatic experiences, or issues, within a condensed timeframe. The equivalent of several months of therapy is condensed into just 1-3 weeks. EMDR Intensives are evidence-based, safe, and effective; research indicates they can reduce PTSD and trauma-related symptoms by up to 74% in a short period. In addition to trauma, EMDR Intensives can efficiently address anxiety, depression, phobias, complicated grief, and a variety of other challenges.
Our EMDR Intensives are integrative and adaptive, often incorporating parts work, somatic techniques, and other therapeutic interventions tailored to the client's needs and challenges in the moment.

Participating in Intensive EMDR can provide a significant boost to your therapy in a short time. Some clients may opt for multiple intensives throughout the year, with 3-6 month breaks in between. However, even a single intensive can significantly reduce or eliminate distress or symptoms related to a specific issue. EMDR Intensives can also benefit clients who are already engaged in ongoing therapy with another therapist, allowing them to make concentrated progress on a particular issue before consolidating this work in their regular sessions.
For more information about EMDR Intensives or to discuss whether an EMDR Intensive might be right for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
