RECONNECT WITH YOURSELF

WELCOME TO LILAC PSYCHOLOGY

Lilas-Headshot-WEB-023.jpg
Jessica (she/her) is the Director at Lilac Psychology. She is a Registered Clinical Psychologist, EMDR Accredited Practitioner (EMDRAA), and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Jessica supports her clients to utilise their personal strengths and inner resources to overcome challenges, regulate emotions, feel empowered, re-connect, and develop self-awareness and understanding.

In her approach, Jessica brings personal values of authenticity, inclusiveness, integrity, creativity, openness, humility, freedom, and collaboration.

As a bilingual and bicultural person with a French background, Jessica is also passionate about supporting Melbourne's French and francophone communities.

"I believe that therapy is not always about change. It is about being heard, seen, held, and guided to discover, (re)connect with, and nurture what is already there, including your own qualities, inner wisdom, and natural healing abilities. At Lilac Psychology we believe that in the right environment, clients can find the courage to reconnect with their authentic self  in order to make sense of their own internal world and to create space for it to grow."

- Jessica.

PHILOSOPHY

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Jessica’s approach is integrative, trauma-and-attachment-informed, and neuroaffirming.

Therapy looks different for each and every person, and Jessica emphasises collaboration with her clients to set treatment objectives, build insight and self-awareness, and tailor her approach to their unique needs, strengths, and personalities. She particularly enjoys using therapeutic methods that go beyond traditional talk therapy, considering the interplay between brain, mind, body, and spirit.

Jessica’s clinical practice is grounded in a trauma-and-attachment-informed, compassionate approach. She is trained in a mix of evidence-based interventions including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Relational-Integrative EMDR (RI-EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic therapy, and Mindfulness-based practices.

Jessica is also a neurodivergent individual who has a special interest in supporting people who identify as Autistic and/or ADHD. Her approach is informed by ongoing learning, reflective practice, as well as by her own lived experience. She strives to provide neurodiversity-affirming care that is tailored to each person’s individual needs, strengths, and functioning.

As people and the world continuously evolve, so does psychology and psychotherapy. Jessica views being a therapist as an ongoing, lifelong process of growth. She believes it is both her professional and personal responsibility to continue learning, refining her skills, and expanding her understanding of how best to support those she works with. In practice, this means remaining open-minded and actively engaging in regular professional development. Jessica undertakes training in a range of therapeutic modalities, deepens her knowledge of the interconnectedness of mind and body, and continually develops new skills to ensure her work remains thoughtful, evidence-informed, and responsive.

At the same time, Jessica holds a deep respect for the fact that each person is the expert in their own life. She strives to approach her work with humility, recognising that therapy is not about imposing answers but about listening carefully and learning from the lived experience of the person in front of her. She understands that meaningful guidance can only emerge from genuine curiosity, collaboration, and attunement. Her role is to bring clinical knowledge and experience, while remaining grounded in the belief that clients’ insights, values, and wisdom are central to the therapeutic process.

Jessica also attends regular professional supervision and engages in her own personal therapy, ensuring she remains reflective, accountable, and grounded in both her professional and personal growth.

THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP

Research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of treatment outcomes. Jessica has conducted her own research on the therapeutic relationship. She therefore places above all a strong emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, authenticity, and collaboration. Finding the "right fit" is a key aspect of therapy and it is therefore important to know that there should be no pressure to commit to any particular therapist and that Jessica welcomes open communication around this.

EMDR INTENSIVES

EMDR Intensives are a focused, accelerated approach to therapy — designed to work through specific themes, traumatic experiences, or stuck patterns within a condensed timeframe. What might otherwise take several months of weekly therapy can be achieved in just days or weeks.

Research supports their effectiveness: Intensives are evidence-based and safe, with studies showing they can significantly reduce PTSD and trauma-related symptoms — in some cases by up to 90% — within a short period. Beyond trauma, Intensives can also be highly effective for anxiety, depression, specific phobias, complicated grief, and many other challenges.

An EMDR Intensive can also be a great option for someone preparing for something significant - an important interview, exam, competition, or performance - where concerns like performance anxiety, social anxiety, fear of public speaking, or procrastination are getting in the way. Intensives can also be particularly meaningful for neurodivergent individuals carrying the weight of invalidation, shame, or deeply held beliefs like "something's wrong with me" or "I'm not good enough" - offering a space to process and shift those experiences more intensively than weekly therapy typically allows.

My Intensives are integrative by nature, drawing on EMDR alongside parts work (IFS), somatic techniques, and other approaches as needed — tailored in the moment to what you're bringing and what feels most useful.

Intensive formats include:

  • Day Intensives (4–5 hours, delivered in a single day)

  • Multi-day and extended packages

These are available for individuals and can be discussed and tailored to your needs and goals. If you'd like to know more about whether an Intensive might be right for you, I'd love to hear from you.

For more information about EMDR Intensives or to discuss whether an EMDR Intensive might be right for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

FEES

  • Session Fee: $290/hr (minimum 90-minute sessions - $435 per session)

My sessions run for a minimum of 90 minutes. This reflects how I work best: over time I've found that my therapeutic approach and modalities I use - primarily EMDR and IFS - benefit from a larger container - one that allows space to settle, go deep, and close the work, rather than leaving things mid-process.

In practice this also tends to mean clients need fewer sessions overall - so while the per-session investment is higher, the overall cost of therapy is often comparable, and progress tends to be more sustained.

For clients engaged in EMDR work, sessions of 2 hours or more are also available - useful when deeper processing work calls for more time, without the commitment of a full Intensive.

  • Medicare rebates allow you to claim back $145.25 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
